Responsibilities:

  • Own complex software features end-to-end — from scoping and design through to production
  • Build, maintain, and optimise APIs: integration, development, testing, and security
  • Work across cloud infrastructure on AWS, contributing to architecture and platform decisions
  • Design and implement data models and pipelines, including real-time streaming with Kafka
  • Maintain CI/CD workflows and uphold git best practices across the team
  • Contribute to the engineering culture at Volteras as an early, senior member of the team

    You will play a central role in shaping, scoping, and building products at Volteras — an API platform connecting customers to real-time electric vehicle data, scaling globally in a fast-moving market.

    As a Senior Software Engineer you will report directly to the Head of Engineering, with a key role in shaping the engineering culture at Volteras. You will own complex software projects end to end, working across API development, cloud infrastructure, and data systems. The ideal candidate enjoys both building and optimising: equally energised by clean system design and getting things shipped.

    Requirements:

  • Extensive experience with API integration, development, testing, and security
  • Extensive experience in cloud environments, AWS preferred
  • Extensive experience with databases, data modelling, and working with large data volumes
  • Experience with batch and streaming processing, real-time applications, and event-based architectures (e.g. Kafka)
  • Experience with CI/CD workflows and git best practices
  • Familiarity with Docker and Terraform
  • Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as Datadog
  • Comfortable working across the stack with React, Python, and modern web technologies
